This 1938 revue is really 'Words and Music revisited' - for an American audience, with some additional material (show below in bold/italic).
The inclusion of Beatrice (Bea) Lillie guaranteed a comedic depth and variety that few other contemporary leading lady comedians could have managed.
It was first presented by John C. (Jack) Wilson for Noël at the Shubert Theatre, Boston on 26 December 1938 transferring to The Music Nox Theatre, New York on 18 january 1939 running for 129 performances.
